Reggae singer/songwriter Tarek Fatah is the latest to be crowned the next superstar.
The 19-year-old rapper has already released his debut album, My Love Will Make You Love, and is set to headline a festival in Australia this week.
But in a recent interview with The Guardian, Fatah was asked about the possibility of playing in the next generation of R&s.
“We don’t want to be the first people to be a star, we want to make it as big as possible,” he said.
“I feel like I can do that.
The other people I’ve heard of, like Zayn and Rihanna, are still young.
I just want to show that I can sing, I can dance, I like the sounds of music.” “
The last thing we want is to have a star with no talent, who has to be paid.
I just want to show that I can sing, I can dance, I like the sounds of music.”
It is the second time Fatah has said he would be a future star.
“My name is Tareke and I am a rapper,” he told the Guardian in 2014.
“So I would be the most important person, not a star.”
In a 2014 interview with Billboard, he also said: “I’m not the only one that wants to be big.
If there’s a star that is coming along, I would want to go and sing with him.”
He is set for his first major international festival in Melbourne in October, where he will play alongside Future and A$AP Rocky.
