The first of the Malaysia Fashion Show2019 will be held at the National Museum on Saturday at 8pm.
The event will be livestreamed on Facebook and will be streamed on YouTube as well.
The first of three exhibitions in the Malaysian Fashion Show will be a look at the styles and trends that are influencing the Malaysian fashion scene.
A new collection of contemporary, unique and stylish Malaysian designer clothing will be on display from April 24 to April 30.
An exhibition entitled Malay Fashion History will include the history of Malay fashion from the colonial era to the present day.
The event is expected to draw up to 150,000 visitors to Kuala Lumpur.
“This is an important step in the history and development of Malaysia’s fashion industry, which is a global leader in the field of fashion and fashion-inspired merchandise,” said Malaysia Fashion Council Chairman Abdul Aziz Mohamad.
In a statement, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said: “Malaysia has a strong reputation for being one of the most diverse and prosperous countries in the world and we are proud to be a part of the best fashion festival in the country.”
Our culture is rooted in the ancient traditions and it is the great pride of our nation that we can be a fashion capital of the world.
“The Malay clothing is based on a theme of diversity, which means it is made with all parts of the country and is based upon traditional Malay culture.
Malaysian President Datuk Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has described the festival as a “gift from God”.”
I have already told my countrymen that I will visit Malaysia in 2019 to celebrate this great event and to showcase our unique style of fashion,” Mr Zahid said in a statement.
Last year, the Malaysia fashion show attracted over 4 million people, with over 70 million tickets sold, according to Malaysian media.
It is the first time the country has hosted a fashion show in its current format.
After the Malaysian event, a second exhibition will be shown at the same venue on Friday, May 5.
According to Malaysian fashion historian Naseem Hisham, the fashion show has become a symbol of diversity in the Malay nation.”
We are all the Malaysians.
Our culture is very diverse and has influenced every facet of our lives.
This show has brought together all the diverse aspects of Malaysia, including our own traditions,” he said.
Mr Hishom said the fashion shows are also a chance for Malaysians to show off their own unique styles, as well as showing off their fashion sense.”
Malaysians are always looking for the latest trends, especially with this festival,” he added.
